Govt to tie up with outfits to expand Tribe India’s reach
Seeking to expand the reach of its ‘Tribe India’ brand, the government has decided to tie up with with various outfits to sell these products from their retail counters across India.
The franchise would sell the products at prices fixed by the Tribal Cooperative Marketing Development Federation of India Limited (TRIFED) from their sales outlet with their manpower and other resources, Tribal Minister Jual Oram said.
Transportation cost, GST among others on the stock would be borne by the TRIFED.The franchisee shall be paid a commission ranging from 10-25 per cent on net sales, he said.
All the products supplied by TRIFED will carry ‘Tribal Craft Mark’ in form of hologram, label or tag for its genuineness and authenticity.
To promote tribal products and enhance their sale, the government today also launched a special scheme, ‘Friend of Tribes’ under which loyalty cards will be issued, offering 20 per cent discount on most of the products being sold through Tribes India outlets located across the country.
A special additional discount of 10 per cent on prevailing discounts will be offered to all the central and state government employees at all the outlets.
TRIFED also plans to expand sales by empanelling salespersons for undertaking house to house campaign for sale of tribal products.
“They will be known as ‘Young Entrepreneurs of TRIFED (YET),” Oram said.
“The aim is not only exhibiting tribal arts and handicrafts but also for empowering tribals. The ministry has planned opening exhibition-cum-sale outlets for tribal products and inviting artisans for demo all throughout the country,” he said.
