AB de Villiers to join Rangpur Riders in BPL 2019
As per reports, the franchise is already in talks with the 34-year old to add more firepower to their armory.
South African legend and one of the world’s most innovative shot-makers of all time, AB de Villiers is speculated to join Rangpur Riders ahead of the sixth edition of the Bangladesh Premier League. It will be a cherry on the cake for the home team spectators if they witness the legend in action along with some of the T20 superstars.
Former South African, who bid adieu to the game after registering Test series wins against India and Australia on the home soil, has decided to continue playing the T20 based franchise leagues all over the world. It will be for the very first time that AB de Villiers will also be seen featuring in Pakistan’s very own T20 tournament in PSL.
Rangpur Riders in talks with AB De Villiers
The defending champions from the fifth edition of the Bangladesh Premier League, Rangpur Riders aim to bring more fan support to their team by roping in some of the best in the business. They already feature Chris Gayle as the most popular overseas face in their team along with, Mashrafe Mortaza, Nazmul Islam, and Mohammad Mithun.
As per reports in BD Crictime, the franchise is already in talks with the 34-year old to add more firepower to their armory. This will be a treat for the fans to witness the likes of Chris Gayle and Ab de Villiers playing as they will hope to retain the Championship and continue their dominance in the league.
The duo has represented Royal Challengers Bangalore together in the IPL for more than a couple of seasons. If the former Proteas’ batsman agrees upon to play in the BPL, it will be a huge boost for the franchise ahead of the season.
Would feature for limited games
It is also reported that BPL 2019 will commence from either 4th or 5th of January, 2019 due to the general elections in the country. Accordingly, there also exists a possibility that De Villiers might be available to play for only last six to seven matches for the reigning champions. He has prior commitments in the Big Bash League as the fixture for the first half of the BPL coincides with Australia’s T20 league.
