Windies Would Hope to Put Pressure on India Batting
India legend Sunil Gavaskar believes it won’t be easy for the host to rout Windies from the Twent20 Internationals, which commences from November 4 (Sunday) at the Eden Gardens.
Meanwhile, India dominated the Test and ODIs, but the current world champions, Windies are likely to give a tough fight int his format. The men in blues will be without their skipper Virat Kohli, who will miss this series to manage his workload. Although India have shown that they can win without Kohli, there will be a psychological advantage for the visitors.
Sunil Gavaskar believes Windies will look to cash on that and take some early wickets to put pressure on India.
“India are also without their regular skipper Virat Kohli, and even though they have shown that they can win without him in the Asia Cup and the odd match where he fails to score a hundred, it is a huge psychological plus for the Windies. They will hope to put pressure on the Indian batting and hope that early wickets expose the newer Indian batsmen to pressure,” Sunil Gavaskar
However, Gavaskar also added that although Indian cricketers have a lot of experience in this formats, franchise cricket and international cricket are different.
“India’s players have plenty of experience of the T20 format because of the IPL, but as we have seen in the past, playing for a franchise and playing internationally are two different things altogether. India have included plenty of slow bowlers as taking the pace off the ball makes it harder for the big shots to be played, but then, power hitters can mishit into the stands too,” Sunil Gavaskar
